My buddies and I own a cleaning service that strips, waxes, and cleans flooring on a regular basis. All of us handle a variety of different flooring products such as tile, hardwood, and carpet, but we have various employees that handle all of the carpet cleaning projects and my buddies and I handle all of the flooring projects that are not carpet. Last week, the people I was with and I managed to get a call from a hotel downtown. The locale was having a substantial ball to celebrate the 50 year birthday of the building. The director wanted us to clean, strip, and wax the floors in the ballroom. The only problem was that they wanted us to perform the work in the middle of the evening, when all the people in the building were sleeping. They didn’t want us working on the ballroom floors during the day. I didn’t know for sure if I wanted to pick up a job that had to be done in the middle of the evening, but my partners were convinced that the job would be straight-forward, since the people I was with and I wouldn’t have anyone in our way while trying to work. I agreed to take the job and the people I was with and I started the flooring on a Monday evening. All of us cleaned the floors and scrubbed all of the scuff marks. The following evening, the people I was with and I waxed the floors. When the people I was with and I were eventually finished with the project, the flooring looked superb. All of us got out all of the dark marks on the floor. The owner of the building was truly impressed with the work, then she provided us another flooring job in the sister building across town. The ballroom wasn’t nearly as large, but it still took a few days as well.
