A few years after college ended, one of my best friends decided to get married.
She invited me to attend the wedding. I really wanted to be there to support my old friend, so I decided to go. My boyfriend and I took the whole weekend off work so we could attend the festivities. We went to the rehearsal dinner, the wedding and the reception. During our stay, we slept in a local hotel that was recommended by my friend. I was really disappointed by the condition of the hotel room. It was rundown and dilapidated. The exterior clearly had a facelift, but the rooms were old and dirty. I was especially disappointed by the heater. It was a cold weekend with snow on the ground and we couldn’t get the heater to warm up the room. It never got hotter than 70 degrees, even when I had the thermostat set to 74 degrees. I never complained or said a word to my friend about the condition of the hotel or the heater. I didn’t want to ruin her big day with a bunch of complaints that didn’t really matter. My boyfriend and I did our best to enjoy our time and we used an extra blanket on the bed at night. When we came home from the weekend away, the two of us were ready to crawl into our bed and relax. We slept all night and most of the next day. We were thankful to take an extra day off work so we could recuperate after the long weekend and drive.
