The ductless AC unit wasn't part of our original estimate

When my wife and I bought a new house, we called an HVAC contractor to look at all of the heating and air conditioning equipment.

  • The house was older and the two of us wanted to find out how many repairs were necessary in order for the house to be up to code.

The house was vacant for ten years, so we expected a lot of problems. Both of us were happily surprised when we found out that the ductwork was in good shape. That can be a major expense and definitely a problem my wife and I didn’t want to deal with. The contractor suggested replacing the entire HVAC system including the outdoor condenser and the heat pump. I knew it was going to be a ton of money and I wasn’t surprised when I saw the price on the estimate. I agreed to pay the fees and the contractor started the work a couple of days later. On the second day of the installation, the contractor surprised us with a brand new ductless AC unit for the garage. The contractor said the estimate was a little high and he offered to install the ductless unit for free or take some fees off the estimate. Since my wife and I were already planning to spend that money, we decided to have the ductless AC unit installed in the garage. That was the best decision we ever made. We never park the cars in the garage and we actually spend a lot of time out there during the spring, summer and fall days.
