I told my son that I would help him with the furnace repair as long as he waited until the weekend.
I still work full time and I don’t get home from my job until dark.
I promised my son that it would be the first thing on my agenda on Saturday morning. I also gave the kids two large space heaters to put in his bedroom and the living room. I talked to my son on Thursday morning. He only had to wait 48 hours to get the furnace repair completed for free. I was going to help the kid, but he couldn’t wait. Instead, he decided to call a local heating company and they charged him $139 just to come out to the house to give him an estimate. They wanted $65 for the new parts that I knew we could find at the hardware store for $17 or $18. My son called me on the phone and he wanted to know if that was a good price. I was definitely frustrated with the entire situation. I cleared my schedule on Saturday morning, so I could help Dale with the furnace. I wanted to tell my son that he was absolutely wasting his money. I would have come help him on Saturday morning and he would have saved $200. Instead, I swallowed my pride and my tongue. I told my son that it was a reasonable amount of money for the work and I made an excuse to get off the phone. My boy clearly has more money than patience.
