My wife and I own several different properties. We have been investing in real estate since 1993. We travel all of the time, but our main residence is on the coast. We spend our summer there and a few weeks every winter. We have two other properties by the beach and several properties by the lake and the mountain. A couple of years ago, my wife and I purchased an old farm. We purchased the farmhouse in the middle of the summer, when the grass was high and the fields were green. When my wife and I had an inspection performed on the property, we found out that the AC system needed major repairs. My wife and I weren’t concerned with making the AC repairs at the time, because we were not going to use the house. We knew waiting a couple of months would mean spending less money. AC repairs are always going to cost more during the summer when the weather is hot and humid. My wife and I waited until the fall to make those repairs on the air conditioner and we saved almost $700. We recently decided to rent the property and we had no problem fetching the rental price that we wanted. In fact, we had several interested couples and we had to make a choice when everyone was well qualified to rent the property. Our chosen tenant signed a four year lease and plans to use the property to grow organic cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, and cabbage. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the history of that old farmhouse.
