The right idea, at the correct time, with good exposure, can lead to some rather interesting results. Case in point, my friend’s 9 year old brother decided to start a Go Fund Me to raise cash for a local park. The playground had been closed for renovations approximately a year ago, which easily became delayed because of COVID and then again due to budget setbacks. This boy had the wish to skip all of the red tape, bypass the local government, and simply raise the cash to renovate the whole park with a really cool grassroots campaign, and damned if he didn’t triple his goal! Next he was easily able to convince a local construction company to help him do the job at a far lower rate. This was actually brilliant if you ask me, because construction is never especially cheap, and these men are skilled workers who don’t actually work for minimum wage. The boy hatched the idea of what a great PR transfer it would be for the construction dealer, and he would use it to get them entirely free of advertising. He was as good as his word, and on the first day on construction the boy had a local news reporter out taking footage of the build. The owner of the construction company was totally praised for his community assistance and his whole company came out looking basically like a million bucks. The local kids ended up with a really nice park, the construction company saw a spike in business, and the boy seems prepared for a wonderful career in politics! I wonder what he will do when he gets older and even smarter.
