While all of the schools were shut down around here, they decided that they were going to do a lot of work on the heating and cooling systems inside all of the buildings.
Along with all of their deep cleaning sanitizing efforts that they do every day, they decided that they needed to make another improvement for health, wellness, and the indoor air quality inside of the school and administration buildings. While all of the students and teachers were away and out of the buildings, the school administration hired commercial HVAC technicians to improve the indoor air quality inside all of the schools here in our county. Several hundred air purification systems were installed all across the school district by the commercial HVAC company. Apparently, they ended up using UV light air purification systems for the schools, since it was announced that the air purification devices are going to be able to neutralize bacteria and virus cells and other gases and pollens. I thought that was actually a great idea, since a lot of parents are still really paranoid about sending their kids to school these days. The air purification technology that they chose has been found to be effective against most viruses, so I think parents will feel better about sending their children back to class because of it. I don’t know how much they ended up spending on this HVAC project, but I’m sure that a lot of our tax dollars went into improving the schools’ indoor air quality. I guess that’s as good a place as any to spend our money, though.
