I told my wife to schedule the tune-up soon

I told the owner about the strange town from last week and the much louder sound from the night before

Last week, I was working in the den late and I thought I heard the furnace make a strange sound. When my wife and I got up in the morning, I told her about the sound and I told her that it was probably time to schedule a tune-up. My wife forgot to call to schedule an appointment and I forgot about the strange sound. Last night, I heard a strange sound again and this time it was much louder. I was very concerned about the noise, especially when I woke up a few hours later and the house was dark and cold. I turned on the light and I walked downstairs to the thermostat. The heat wasn’t running and it was 62 degrees in the house. I tried to turn the heat on again and I tried to turn the power on and off. Unfortunately, my knowledge of furnace and heating issues is minimal. I woke my wife up and asked her if she wanted to call the emergency service or wait until the morning. Since we were close to daybreak, we decided to wait until morning to call the heating company. The place was open at seven in the morning. I told the owner about the strange town from last week and the much louder sound from the night before. He told me that it didn’t sound good and warned me that we might need a new furnace. I don’t know if scheduling a tune-up sooner would have helped our problem, but I wish we would have called them last week.
