I lived my whole life up north plus then moved down south a year ago. Everything is weird in the south. The people speak weird plus act way different. The food is different, the pace plus the temperature. I was used to winters that get to -20 degrees. I also never got boiling in the summer. My childhood house doesn’t even have a cooling system. I never owned an until this year. When I bought my southern house I was gleeful by the gas fireplace plus weirded out by the central I figured that the cooling system would hardly get used. Well it is the opposite in the south. The fireplace is really just a decorative feature. I found out the cooling system is absolutely a heat pump. The system can heat plus cool all in one unit. The cooling function is what I use 90% of the time too. The summers are in the 90s for just about everything. The fall season is in the 70s. Winter time is the only time I don’t run the but most afternoons I don’t need the oil furnace. I had never encountered a heat pump system before although I love it. It is so efficient in how it provides temperature control. It takes up hardly any space in the house plus requires easily little repair. Next time I have the Heating plus A/C company over to my house I will have him detach my gas fireplace. Northerners would be cringing at such a move. I don’t need that kind of heating power though.
