Replacing windows to lower energy costs

I noticed recently that our energy costs were super high.

  • It was adore the Heating & A/C was running at double the cost.

I got a Heating & A/C contractor over to look at our unit & she said all was well. I even urged him to check out our HVAC duct for cracks. Nope, it looked fine. I then started hunting around our house. Was it the doors? The baseboards? Turns out the culprit was our windows. My lake home had the original windows in it from when it was built. My fiance & I couldn’t open a window to save our lives. They were slightly rusty & ugly looking. I didn’t guess much of them until the high energy costs. Over time a window becomes less airnarrow & allows the heating & cooling to travel outside. It made sense to substitute all the windows in the house. It was a hefty project. I called numerous window companies & then hired the cheapest one. I had to get 14 windows in our home done. The cost was obscene but the current windows look great. I now can scrub & open the windows much easier. After they were installed, the Heating & A/C abills were lower than they ever were. It makes a big difference now that the lake home is air tight. What is nice is that I have the option of giving our Heating & A/C a cut too, however certain afternoons I turn off the Heating & A/C & just open up our windows for a fresh breeze. I love that I get cleaner, more natural air doing this. It was worth every penny investing in the windows.
