Fancy new bedroom gets its own HVAC

The fact that our kids were really growing up was not lost on my wife and I one bit.

Sure, they’re becoming their own people and are more and more independent.

But it’s also the fact that they are physically growing. This resulted in a series of conversations in the air conditioning after they had gone to bed. The topic of those late night conversations in the heating and cooling comfort of our home was whether or not we should sell that home. With the housing market what it is, we thought we might upgrade the HVAC equipment and get the house on the market in order to get a bigger place. But we started looking at the bigger places and the prices sort of shot down that idea. Yet the idea of doing something with the HVAC got us to thinking about another way around our situation. So we decided to give up our bedroom to our twin girls and add on a new master bedroom and bathroom. Not only were we taking care of the kids needing more space, we would be adding value to our home. Once we did the math, it was a no brainer and we got the work done. When the structure was complete, there was the question of heating and cooling. The HVAC professional told us that adding that space to our current HVAC unit would be an overload for the HVAC equipment. So instead, we had a ductless mini split installed in our new master bedroom. And as an added bonus, we put a nifty, modern space heater in the new master bathroom as well.
